Hi everyone!!! I'm really curious about how API & Integrations work with iAuditor, hoping people can share how they've been utilising this!!!

Where am I?

In SafetyCulture you can ask and answer questions and share your experience with others!

Really great discussion topic @Rae! If you haven't read this yet, we have an article on getting started with the iAuditor API that may give you a bit more understanding and answer some of the questions you may have!

Thanks as always @Jack!

I have a MS Flow (or Power Automate) integration set up to automatically upload completed inspection reports to my company's SharePoint site. This article is pretty handy to walk through the steps: https://support.safetyculture.com/integrations/upload-inspection-reports-to-sharepoint-automatically-with-power-automate/

Though they're still using the classic report format, which is kinda annoying. Don't know when they'll be switched over.

Thank you for sharing your experience @Yuming! I'm really sorry for the delay on our Power Automate connector update, but we're getting really close to updating it to use the new report format!

I'm still new to iAuditor, but I remember the colleague who referred iAuditor to me uses a software called Zap (I might've misspelt it)? Seems pretty easy to use and it's just clicking and selecting to connect apps, not much coding involved.

@Rae  The API can be a powerful tool to connect different systems together. We use the API to manage users and assign them to groups. In addition, we pull inspection and action data from the API for dashboard and reporting purposes.

Another way we are using the API is to take data collected in a form and populate a Word template for each one of the branches on specific schedule to reduce the amount of time it takes to reproduce clean deliverable reports with specific layout requirements.

Happy to help you with the API, just let me know what you're trying to do and I can point you in a direction.

Thank you @Josh Yeamans! Sounds like the possibilities are endless with the API!!! I'll certainly ask again should I need any help :)

@Rae We work in the construction/maintenance industry with a lot of civil engineers, when we moved to iAuditor they really struggled not having excel registers that keep track of completed inspections and particular data from the inspection. To minimise their struggle with change we set up API integrations that fill out  google sheets registers every time a particular template is completed. We found Zapier the easiest tool for us to achieve this with minimum effort and once set up correctly it doesn't need any management.

@Leith Haddon This is absolutely a great tool. Another one is Microsoft Power Automate (formerly Microsoft Flow). This tool connects to a lot of enterprise systems found within the Microsoft suite of products.

We use it to write to SharePoint, Excel tables, Smartsheet, Salesforces, etc. The possibilities are endless.

Hi Josh, yes we looked at Power Automate as our business uses Microsoft but at the time the API token had to be refreshed manually every 90 days with Power Automate (flow back then) so we ended up going with Zapier so it was set and forget. Im not sure if the 90 day requirement has changed since we investigated it ?

Looks like I'm amongst pros here!! Thank you guys for sharing your experience 😊

I would like to know if I can use API key to add a calendar event for scheduled inspections into either a google calendar or Apple Calendar for individuals

Hi @Sharon Rowlands! Sadly our schedule feature does not have any integration capabilities at this stage. But the use case you described is actually something our product team is researching and plan to introduce as a feature in the near future. I encourage you to submit any feedback or feature ideas you have via this LINK 🙌🏼

@Sharon Rowlands this is a great idea. As Jake stated, currently not available.

However, depending on what’s important, you could send an email on a specific day to a specific perso from a calendar event. With this, you could deep link the ‘start inspection’ in a URL the person clicks to launch the mobile app or web.

For my printing department, I use iAuditor to monitor quality of output (with pictures), and since I am there already, I record lot information for unprinted stock and finished goods lots, all tied to a particular production run.  Each printer has an iPad to use.

My intent was to use the Zapier integration for an integration (because at my level of need it would be free), but they did not support repeating sections, which I use extensively.

So I taught myself Python and started to explore the python safetyculture API.  I now use this for my printing department's Production and lot traceability, and for my injection molding department's lot traceability. Still working on molding production reporting and a maintenance work order system.

These are not flawless due to the usual reasons. Garbage in-garbage out.  On a daily basis, about one in ten audits are incomplete and I have to complete them.   Unsigned, or forgot to enter date/time, or started a new section and didn't use it.  This hopefully will improve with time.

There is a bit of a learning curve as the format of the audit returned is in JSON.  It is a long, ordered list of items in a dictionary format.  But with enough effort, I am able to pull selected data and dump them to various excel spreadsheets.
